Mr. Kok has been involved in the execution of numerous private placements, mergers, acquisitions, privatizations and leveraged buy-outs. Prior to founding Johan Hekelaar, Mr. Kok headed the corporate finance departments of First National Bank of Maryland (FNB), a commercial bank with over $10 billion in assets, and Ferris Baker-Watts Inc (FBW), an investment bank based in Baltimore. At FNB he was responsible for managing the bank's venture capital portfolio. In addition, at FBW Mr. Kok established Grotech Ventures, a venture capital fund, and underwrote a dozen public offerings. Mr. Kok served as the Chief Economist for the United States Government's Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in President Jimmy Carter's Administration. He has worked for Harvard University where he performed economic research for a Nobel prize winning economist, Booz, Allen & Hamilton, Inc., and Long Lake Energy Corporation (co-founder and CFO). Mr. Kok serves on advisory boards of several other companies. Mr. Kok holds Masters Degrees in Business Administration from Harvard Business School and INSEAD. He also holds an MA in Economics from California State University and a BA in Economics from Occidental College. He is fluent in Spanish, German, French, Dutch and English. Mr. Shrivastav has a deep understanding of the business and the political climate in the United States, India and Nepal. He has covered consumer staples, finance and technology companies for JPMorgan, Uma Ventures and boutique investment banks. He has worked on transactions of all sizes including high yield debt, mezzanine financing, placement of equity securities as well as M&A buy-side and sell-side mandates. He is also a Director at Uma Ventures where he works closely with the portfolio companies in all aspects including product development, formulation and execution of overall business strategies. He advised the King of Nepal on his digital strategy and led the development of the King’s digital platforms. He founded NepaliVivah which became the largest platform for Nepali singles to meet and marry. During his undergraduate studies, he worked with a major Houston-based law firm as a litigation paralegal. He also developed Callitme a peer-reviewed network where you meet people you can trust. Mr. Shrivastav earned his graduate degree in Information Systems from Harvard University and his undergraduate degree from the University of Houston Downtown campus.
Mr. Shrivastava is responsible for originating and executing M&A transactions for Hekelaar’s client base globally, with a focus on South Asia cross-border transactions. He performs fundamental financial, business analysis and valuation of companies and identifies acquisitions and divestitures opportunities for clients and determines financial impact of transactions. In addition, he leads the social matrimony platform Maangu where is responsible for overall strategy development, product marketing and growth of the platform. Mr. Shrivastava earned an Advanced Diploma in Business Management from the Western Institute of Technology and a Masters of Commerce degree in Professional Accounting from the Federation University of Australia.
